Pacifica Solar Palette Review

I love makeup palettes. I’m a total sucker for them. Eyeshadow palettes are great, but I really dig it when they have cheek colors too. I’ve been wanting to try out Pacifica’s new eyeshadows since I first saw them, and finally decided to pick up the limited edition Solar Palette. It’s becoming my go-to palette to take with me when I travel.
The palette contains six eyeshadows, one blush, one bronzer, and three cream highlighters. The eyeshadows include a pale color for under the brow bone, a dark color perfect for lining or use in the crease, and the other shades are great lid colors. They are well chosen to coordinate together, and work for all seasons. I use the coral, light brown, and dark brown colors the most, but they are all nicely pigmented and smooth to work with.
The blush is a really flattering color, which looks dark but goes on lighter. It’s a soft rose with a bit of golden shimmer to it. It’s not a LOT shimmery, or sparkly. It would suit a variety of skin tones. The bronzer is also quite flattering and pretty. It’s light for a bronzer, so probably wouldn’t show much on deeper skin tones. Anyone fair to medium will like it.
I don’t use the highlighters much because I usually use powder foundation and creams don’t play well on powder. They’re nice on bare skin or if you use liquid/cream foundation or a tinted moisturizer. I haven’t tried them on my lips or eyes, just as highlighters on the cheekbones and down the bridge of the nose.
In the photos I’m wearing the blush and a bit of the bronzer, as well as the coral-y, lighter brown, and pale pink eyeshadow.
At $32, it’s not the cheapest palette out there. The pricing is in line with other nicer makeup brands like Tarte, and I find the quality to be quite similar as well.
EOTD: Housewife Halloween
Eyeshadow - Comments (3) - October 30th, 2013
It’s not too late to order Shiro Cosmetics’ awesome Halloween colors. This year, there are two new colors in the collection, Two-Faced and Zero. They are both really pretty and I highly recommend them!
The lid color is Housewife, from the Fullmetal collection. Housewife is a pale greige with a shimmery finish. The crease color is Two-Faced, from the Halloween collection. Two-Faced is a deep blackened grey-purple with coppery shimmer. The highlight color is Zero, a sheer, lightly metallic grey-red. It’s really pretty, and makes a great lip gloss color too. The eyeliner is from L’Oreal, it’s Violet Volt.
I’m wearing a MAC blush, and Shiro custom lipgloss in Cake!.
EOTD: Housewife Lobotomy
Eyeshadow - Comments (1) - October 26th, 2013
You can still get Halloween colors from Meow Cosmetics, so I wanted to feature another Hallowwen color. I used one of my favorite Shiro colors to go with it, since I like to use red with silver.
The lid color is Housewife, from Shiro Cosmetics. Housewife is a pale greige with a shimmery finish. It looks great paired with just about everything, but I especially like it with red colors. The crease color is Lobotomy, from the Asylum collection by Meow Cosmetics. Lobotomy is a brilliant flaming strawberry. It reads as warmer or cooler, depending on what you pair it with. It’s really pretty! The highlight color is Tears of Retail Employees, also from Shiro. I’m wearing a gray eyeliner pencil from Essence.
The blush is from Milani, it’s Corallina. I think it’s discontinued, which is too bad because it’s a great color. I wouldn’t mind trying some of the other blushes from Milani – they’re very easy to wear. The lip color is Fresh Sugar Shine Lip Treatment.
EOTD: Bats In The Misfortune
Eyeshadow, Hot Lips - Be the first to comment! - October 19th, 2013
October is more than half over, but it’s not too late to order Halloween colors from Meow Cosmetics! Today’s makeup features two of the prettiest blue/green colors I’ve seen. I like them so much, I might just have to order full sizes (I have samples). Meow’s product photos are decent, but they don’t do these colors justice. They’re totally fab.
The lid color is Misfortune, from the Friday The 13th collection. Misfortune is a metallic green/blue with gold iridescence, and holy moly is it pretty. My photos aren’t doing it proper justice either – check out the swatches at Painted! GAH! SO PRETTY! The crease color is Bats In The Belfry, from the Asylum collection. I’m nuts about this one too. It’s a gunmetal with silver metallic finish. Go see better swatches here. The highlight is Shiro’s Tears of Retail Employees. I used an Organic Wear pencil in a navy color.
The blush is Detrivore’s Lilith. I’m wearing a lip gloss from Urban Decay that’s been discontinued – it’s the Stardust Sparkling Lip Gloss in Glitter Rock. (It’s still available though, and on sale for nine bucks, so get it while you can!) It’s a great color.
EOTD: Flash Sedative
Eyeshadow, Hot Lips - Comments (2) - October 18th, 2013
It’s October, and that means Meow Cosmetics has Halloween stuffs available too! Yay! Wear ALL THE HALLOWEEN STUFFS!!! Today I wore a colors from the Asylum collection, as well as a Zombie color.
The lid color is Flash, from Silk Naturals. Flash isn’t a Halloween color, but it is a very shimmery complex gold color with a hint of silver and diamond pearl. The crease color is Sedative, the Asylum color. Sedative is a warm metallic silver. I have a sample of it, and while it’s really pretty, it’s not quite a must-have for me, so I won’t order a full size. It is really pretty, though. The highlight color is one I did love enough to order in full size: Skelecat, from the Halloween Zombies. Skelecat is a white color with gold and green iridescence. It’s one of my favorite highlight colors. The eyeliner is a brown color from Physician’s Formula’s Shimmer Strips Gel Liner. It’s pretty darned good for a drugstore (aka inexpensive) gel eyeliner set.
The blush is from Milani, a Baked Blush in the shade Corallina. It would appear the Corallina shade is discontinued – which is too bad, because it’s pretty great. I’m wearing a new Aveda Uruku Color Gloss, this time in the shade Berry.
EOTD: Lingered Oogie
Eyeshadow, Hot Lips - Comments (1) - October 16th, 2013
I’ve been on a Shiro kick lately because it’s October and the halloween stuff is available. I used Oogie Boogie and Dr. Finkelstein, along with a color from the Hobbit collection. I didn’t have time to photograph my face when it was fresh, so these pictures are after about six hours of wear. Not bad! I had to blot off the shinies, but I didn’t do any other touch-ups.
The lid color is Oogie Boogie, a swampy green-beige. The crease color is Lingered in Twilight, a blackened blue and green tones with slightly metallic shimmer. The highlight is Dr. Finkelstein, a somewhat sheer, ultra-pale ghoulish green-yellow-grey with blue shimmer. I used a black Physician’s Formula Kohl eyeliner on the upper and lower lashlines, as well as the inner rims.
The blush is Thing, from Detrivore Cosmetics. The lip color is an Uruku Color Gloss from Aveda in the shade Luna. I am addicted to this lip balm/gloss thing. It’s pretty awesome.
EOTD: She Bop Toxicity
Cat, Eyeshadow - Be the first to comment! - October 15th, 2013
I was wearing a black shirt to work the other day, so I decided I needed a pop of color on my eyelids. Madd Style’s She Bop was just the thing, toned down with some browns so it didn’t get too crazy. Also, pink and brown has always been a favorite combo of mine.
I put She Bop on the lid. She Bop is a deep pink color with a silvery shimmer and TONS of aqua glitter. Using a sticky base will help the glitters stick better. As it is, a lot of them disappear. (Which is fine, for work…) The crease is Toxicity, from Detrivore Cosmetics. Toxicity is a dark brown satin with a blue and pink shimmer. It’s super-pretty. I used Detrivore’s Lobotomy to highlight in the inner corners and under the brow. The eyeliner is a brown pencil from Givenchy.
The blush is limited edition coral-y color from MAC, and I’m wearing Fresh’s Sugar Shine Lip Treatment.
Since it’s been a while, here’s a bonus Theo picture! He’s such a snoozy boy.
EOTD: Glory Fullmetal
Eyeshadow, Hot Lips - Be the first to comment! - October 14th, 2013
I’ve been wearing more neutrals lately, and I just love this particular combination. I used colors from Silk Naturals and Shiro Cosmetics, and I’m really happy with how it came out.
The lid color is Glory, from Silk Naturals. Glory is a taupe with golden highlights- that’s punctuated with glints of green, copper, peach, and gold. I particularly like the description about the sparkles – “The little bits glimmer read as +1 awesome rather than a craft store tragedy.” Glory is one of my favorite taupe colors because of the sparkly bits. The crease color is Fullmetal from Shiro Cosmetics. Fullmetal is a charcoal base with a strong golden shimmer and red highlights. OH HOW I LOVE THIS COLOR. I used Tears of Retail Employees to highlight. The eyeliner is Jordana Easyliner in Brown Suede.
I can’t entirely remember what I used on my cheeks, but I think it’s Shiro Cosmetics’ Coconut Mall bronzer. I put Fresh’s Sugar Shine Lip Treatment on my lips.
