When my local New Seasons Market stocked the newest additions to the Badger family, the Every Day Moisturizers, I promptly purchased one in each variety. Hello, my name is Claire, and I am a Badger addict.
The Every Day Moisturizers are balms that come in 2 oz. tins, the larger size Badger tin. Each one is composed of a featured oil or butter, plus Badger’s trademark organic olive oil and beeswax. All three smell delightful!
The Nutmeg & Shea Moisturizer has the softest consistency but the heaviest feel on the skin. The nutmeg scent is wonderful! This one is the easiest to scoop out of the tin and spread over a larger area. I particularly like it for smoothing on my rough heels before bed and for my hands.
The Vanilla Coconut Moisturizer is more solid in the tin than the Shea one, but not as hard as the Cocoa Butter one. It’s a pretty easy thing to use the heat from your fingers to scoop some out, and it has the lightest feel on the skin. I love to spread this one on my arms, where I have a tendency towards rashes on my forearms. This soothes the dryness and irritation quite nicely. (Of course, I’m not a doctor, blah blah blah. If you have a medical condition, consult a doctor before use.) The scent of this one is heavenly! It truly smells like vanilla and coconut. I loooooove the smell!
The Creamy Cocoa Moisturizer is the most solid in the tin, and has a medium feel on the skin. Since it’s a lot of work to get an appreciable amount scooped out, I tend to mostly just use this on my hands. The dark chocolate scent is totally delectable!
All three products are certified organic, and the Cocoa one also contains Fair Trade cocoa butter. If you are looking for a totally natural product to soothe your skin, look no further – these are wonderful!
No product is without its drawbacks, and they do have a few. Because these are waterless balms, they are not going to feel like a water-based lotion moisturizer. They’re balms – they will feel somewhat oily on the skin. The small size is not ideal for head-to-toe slathering because you will run through them pretty fast. In my opinion, only the Shea one is ideal for trying to slather over a large area anyway, the other two are too solid.
However, the benefits really outweigh the drawbacks. For a product that’s small enough to stick in my purse for putting on rashes, my dry hands, fly-away ends of my hair, etc. this can’t be beat. And seriously, the fragrances are practically worthy of being called perfumes. Badger Balm Every Day Moisturizers get two thumbs up!
