Skincare Fun!
About Claire, Complexion, Skin Care - April 13th, 2007

Makeup TableWhen it comes to skincare, I am always game for trying new stuff. The downside is it’s hard to stick with one set of products until they are empty. I want to try this and that and that and…

Anyway, here’s what’s on my face right now.

In the morning, I’m washing with Ponds Fresh Start cleanser. I like the microbeads, and it’s gentle enough for everyday use without over-exfoliating. When it’s gone, I plan to switch to the Avon cleanser I just bought.

I’m religiously using my Kinerase Clear Skin serum and will definitely repurchase (despite the ouch! pricetag, the stuff is just awesome). The NEW product in this routine is Boots No. 7 Resore and Renew Serum, a product I got to try for free (thanks to a cool PR company that sent me one, being a beauty blogger ROCKS!!). The biggest question in my mind is whether or not it would cause pimples. For some reason, skin care products with peptides almost always cause pimples in my skin. So far, after one week, no pimples (they usually show up within the first seven days). This has me very excited – if it’s true that I can use this product without pimples, I’m sold. I have some fine lines in the nasolabial area (that’s the crease between the nose and mouth) that I’d like to see improved. I’ll keep you updated.

I’m still using (and loving) the Earth Science Almond Aloe Moisturizer. Since the bottle is 5 oz., it lasts for months. I’m going to be out soon, and I’m considering switching, just for the sake of changing things up. However, I’m not sure to what I’d switch, since this has the benefits of pleasing my skin AND being inexpensive. DDF has some nice moisturizers (I’ve tried the Ultra Lite Oil Free Moisturizing Dew, having received very large samples in gratis), but for the price I’m not sure it’s worth switching to one of those.

I’ll leave eye cream to another post. I could write a book, lol.

At night, I’m using Cosmedicine Healthy Cleanse, but I think I’ll switch to the L’Occitane Almond Apple Cleansing Oil when I run out. When I’m too tired to wash my face, I use Ponds Dramatic Results towelettes. They really rock, and are definitely better than not washing at all.

I’m using Murad Night Reform serum for its action on skin tone and evenness. So far, so good. I made a foray to Target to check out the rest of the Boots line, and snagged a tube of Boots Botanics Hydrating Serum Capsules to try also. I love how they feel. I plan on posting a summary of my thoughts on Boots.

I’ll also do a separate night cream and exfoliator post.

So, to sum it all, my skin care goals are to eliminate some of the sun spots and unevenness of skin tone I have from my rampant teenage sunbathing years (I’m only 28), to reduce pore size and oiliness of my skin, to clear up all breakouts, and to (hopefully) eliminate the fine lines I have. So far, I’ve seen the largest improvements in the breakouts (yay!!) and skin tone, and I’d say my skin looks the best it has in years. All the stuff I’m slathering on must be doing something! And, I’m trying to be targeted about what I use, and not just slapping on whatever.
