Fantasy Britney Spears Perfume Review
Perfume, Reviews - January 17th, 2012

It’s time for what’s become my (sort of) annual Britney Spears perfume review! It started in 2008, when I bought Believe because I loved its fruit & patchouli vibe. In 2009, it was Hidden Fantasy. The orange sherbet & vanilla was perfect for a gloomy winter. In 2010, Circus Fantasy found its way into my heart. Somehow, 2011 got away with no Britney, but 2012 is here and I have the original Fantasy in my hot little hands to share with all of you!

So you might be asking, what’s the deal with my love affair with Britney’s perfumes? Here’s the thing. I talk about liking my sophisticated, grown-up perfumes. And I do love them, along with my favorite indie oils and solids. But some days, like when it’s rainy and gross or hot and sticky, I like a girly fruity-floral – bonus if there’s candy notes too. I’m certainly not an expert, but in my opinion, the Britney perfumes pretty much define the most recent fruity-floral genre. They are what they are, and they do it well.

Fantasy Britney Spears was the second Britney perfume. At the time it was released, the bottle was a stand-out on the shelf, because it was cute, colorful, and appealing. (I worked At Sephora, I remember.) I still think the bottle is cute, colorful, and appealing, so it gets points for packaging. The scent is heavy on the “yum” factor. It has notes of red lychee, golden quince, kiwi, cupcake accord, jasmine petals, white chocolate, orchid, musk, orris root and sensual woods. At first sniff on skin, I get the lychee, and the kiwi. As the scent dries down, the cupcake, musk, and woods start to become apparent. It’s not heavy on the chocolate, I don’t really notice that much. Fantasy is much more gourmand than either of its flankers (Hidden & Circus). It wears for hours – I sprayed my wrist before going to bed and it’s still here this morning, going strong! Fantasy is sweet, but not cloyingly so, in my opinion. It’s a nice gourmand scent that isn’t as heavy as some I’ve tried.

With Valentine’s Day coming up, Fantasy would be a good choice for date night. It’s sweet, pretty, and fun all in one fragrance. I give it two thumbs up!

P.S. My husband likes it, so it has guy approval!

  3. [...] certainly not unique or special. It reminds me of a host of other perfumes in the genre, like Britney Spears Fantasy or Taylor Swift Wonderstruck. Honestly, both of those perfumes do the fruity-sweet thing better [...]
