Cheap Thrills, Hot Lips - April 1st, 2009
I’ve found an awesome lip balm: Softlips! I’ve never tried this drugstore staple before, and once I did, I like the brand a lot. Who knew?
Softlips recently introduced an organic lip balm to their line, the Pure balm. It rocks! It contains nice oils like olive, jojoba, and shea butter, as well as pomegranate extract and vitamin e. The best part is it’s certified organic, but is still a total steal ringing in under $5. (It’s $2.69 at Drugstore.com right now!)
The other one I’ve been liking is the SPF 20 balm with green tea. In addition to the green tea extract, it has squalane and evening primrose oil. There is also a tinted balm with shimmer and SPF 15 – I have the Pearl color and it’s pretty with its hint of shimmer.
The tubes are very skinny and very convenient to tote around. I like that none of the formulas get melty in my pockets. I’m not a huge fan of the menthol in the SPF formulas, but it’s not a deal-breaker, and the flavors are good, especially the raspberry. The Pure organic balm is really FAB, being organic and still a total budget deal. Overall, two thumbs up for Softlips!

I really like how these balms are formulated, but I’m not too much of a skinny-tube fan. I have really full lips, and it takes awhile for me to apply with such a skinny tube, lol. But otherwise, I really love these.
The skinny tube isn’t my favorite, but I have a thin upper lip and a full lower lip… but for the price, I’m willing to overlook the tube
