EOTD: Shiro Halloween Fun
Eyeshadow - Comments (1) - November 26th, 2012

Shiro Cosmetics’ still has the Halloween Collection listed, but I don’t know for how long. If these colors look good, you should probably snag it PRONTO! I used three of the four colors for this look, and I really love them! The Halloween Collection is based on The Nightmare Before Christmas, which is Halloween-y, but also totally Christmas-y in my world. This came out messier than I like, boo hiss.

The lid color is Ragdoll, a lightly faded rust matte base filled with lilac and blue sparkles. This is such a pretty color! I used Pumpkin King in the crease. Pumpkin King is a blackened copper packed with orange sparkles, and it’s delicious. I love these dark brown/charcoals from Shiro, I really do. Use a sticky base for maximum sparklage! I used Finkelstein to highlight, from the inner corners up to the brow bone. Finkelstein is a sheer, ultra-pale ghoulish green-yellow-grey with blue shimmer. It’s a great highlight color. I used more Pumpkin King (with a damp brush) on the upper and lower lashlines.

I used Desert Rose blush from Bare Escentuals. It’s a pretty dusty rose color. The lipstick is Paul & Joe.

EOTD: Sinister Burial
Eyeshadow - Comments (4) - October 17th, 2012

Luna, from Toxid-Lotus, asked me to use Sinister Urge and Premature Burial from Black Rose Minerals together, to see how they look. Being the ever-so-helpful gal that I am, I was happy to oblige. So, I present to you SINISTER BURIAL with a dash of FAYE!

Sinister Urge
, a light blue with a red sheen, is the lid color. Hoo boy, is this one pretty. I just love this color. The crease color is Premature Burial, an earthy brown with pink and gold sparkles. It takes on an almost purple-y look when paired with blue. I used Faye, a light and airy yellow with a delicate red duochrome highlight, in the inner corners and under the browbone. I LOVE FAYE. I used a damp brush with more Premature Burial to line the upper and lower lashlines.

The blush is Bare Escentuals Secret. The lipgloss is Silk Naturals’ Kisser Slicker in Sugar.

EOTD: Gray Glory
Eyeshadow - Comments Off - October 15th, 2012

I seem to be drawn to the same colors, over and over again. I actually started a spreadsheet to keep track of what I own (both eyeshadow samples and full sizes) because I kept ordering duplicates – especially with Meow Cosmetics. But a spreadsheet only works if you consult it before hitting the order button. Which is all a roundabout way of saying I placed an order with Meow on Columbus Day and managed to order THREE duplicate samples. DOOOOOH! The good news I like the colors a lot and I’m not sad to have duplicates.

My husband suggested I wear some “sparkly browns” to match the blouse I was wearing, so I was happy to take his suggestion. I used Glory, from Silk Naturals, on the lid. Glory has a base of taupe with golden highlights, that’s punctuated with glints of green, copper, peach, and gold. It is SUPER PRETTY, especially with a sticky base like Pixie Epoxy. I used Gray Matter, from Meow Cosmetics, in the crease. I now own TWO samples of Gray Matter, so it’s a good thing I REALLY like the color. Gray Matter is a sparkly mauve gray with hot cherry sheen. I used Garland, a Bare Escentuals color, to highlight the inner corners and under the browbone. Using a damp brush, I lined the upper and lower lashlines with Badger, from Shiro Cosmetics.

The blush is Bloodbath, from Detrivore Cosmetics. The lipstick is L’Oreal Colour Riche in Chocolate Spice.

Gray Matter is from Meow Cosmetics’ Alien Abduction collection, which will disappear after Halloween!

EOTD: Premature Sushi
Eyeshadow - Comments Off - October 11th, 2012

Continuing with my (sort-of) theme to use colors from various Halloween collections, I wanted to use some Black Rose Minerals colors today. I used one of the colors, Premature Burial, from A Collection of the Perverse, which is a striking collection inspired by Edgar Allen Poe.

Premature Burial is an earthy brown glistening with pink and gold sparkles. EET’S SO PRETTY!! I am such a sucker for pretty brown colors. The lid color is Sushi, from the Meow Meow Meow collection. Sushi is a light beige color with purple/lavender sparkles. It leans a little on the peach side of beige. If you like neutrals, you should get the whole Meow Meow Meow collection because it’s neutral heaven. Also, two of the cats are mine, lol. I put Bare Escentuals’ Firelight, a creamy buttercup shimmer, in the inner corners and under the brow bone. The eyeliner is The eyeliner is Victoria’s Secret Makeup Eyeliner in Dark Chocolate.

The blush is Black Rose Minerals’ Radical, a coral pink with golden shine. It’s a great color. The lip color is from Silk Naturals. It’s the Kisser Slicker gloss in Foreplay.

EOTD: Absent Joy
Eyeshadow, Hot Lips - Comments (1) - October 8th, 2012

Today I used another new Detrivore Cosmetics color from the Halloween Collection. It’s Absent, and it’s really stunning. I love wearing bright orange or bright red eyeshadow, so naturally I just had to have Absent. I used it with Joy, one of my favorite Meow Cosmetics colors.

So, Absent… it’s a bright orangish red satin eye shadow with gold shimmer, and it is just so pretty. I used it in the crease. Joy, a pale orange-y color with a pink shift, is from Meow’s Holiday Wishes collection. It’s on the lid. I used Shiro Cosmetics’ Badger on the upper and lower lashline. I put Bare Escentuals’ Firelight, a creamy buttercup shimmer, in the inner corners and under the brow bone.

The blush is Nars Luster. Luster is a sheer golden apricot color. The lipgloss is L’Oreal Infallible Lip Gloss is Suede. This is the new 8-hour formula, which in my opinion isn’t any longer-lasting than the old 6-hour formula. However, it’s still much, much more long-lasting than an ordinary lip gloss. It’s a great color, sort of a rose gold shade.

EOTD: Cadaverine Badger
Eyeshadow - Comments (3) - October 7th, 2012

I ordered Detrivore Cosmetics’ Halloween Collection, and it is quite fabulous. It includes a lovely matte color called Cadaverine. I also recently snagged Shiro Cosmetics’ Badger. I decided to pair Badger with Cadaverine for a nice, autumnal look.

Cadaverine is a light reddish beige matte color. I’d go so far as to label it peach. It is just a little bit brighter than the color of my eyelids. I’m not usually a big fan of matte colors, but Detrivore’s mattes are so perfectly silky and smooth that I’m becoming a matte convert. Badger is a shimmery blackened chocolate with honey-colored sparks. I didn’t use a sticky base for maximal sparkage, but I will next time. I used Bare Escentuals’ Firelight, a creamy buttercup shimmer, in the inner corners and under the brow bone. The eyeliner is a taupe color pencil.

I managed to smear mascara on one of my eyelids and didn’t notice until after I took photos. DOH!!! Hence, only one eye closeup. The other looked like hell.

The blush is also from Detrivore, it’s the ever-popular Thing. The lipstick is a discontinued color, which is too bad because it’s awesome. It’s Awake Cosmetics’ Autumn Red.

EOTD: Dragons!
Eyeshadow, Makeup Fun - Comments (3) - February 5th, 2012

It’s been kind of a rough week in Claire-land, so I didn’t really do much makeup. But I was bound and determined to do this week’s Makeup Challenge from Toxid-Lotus, because it was Dragons. And Dragons rock. I decided that my dragons were going to be greenish and bluish and sparkly. So that’s what I did.

I used Electric Stardust from Fyrinnae in the inner corners. Electric Stardust is bright, cheery, shimmery mint green that can change to a lighter aqua depending on the light. The outer corners are Poseidon from Black Rose Minerals. Poseidon is a teal base with a high shimmer finish and turquoise glitter. It’s one of my favorite teal colors. The crease color is Cyranose from Linnaeus Cosmetics. Cyranose is a dark green with a lot of green sparkle. The highlight is Divinity from Persephone Minerals (which is on clearance right now, go buy it!!!). Divinity is a pale, glowing green highlight glistening with sparkles of green, silver, & green-gold. In order to make all this stick, I used Pixie Epoxy as well.

On my cheeks, I applied Morgana Cryptoria’s Mysterious Veil, for a green sheen. A light dusting of Bare Escentuals’ blush in Secret went on top.

The lip color is Ultra Phantom Lip Lustre from Fyrinnae. Ultra Phantom is a sheer aqua sparkle that turns to pink in different light or angles. It’s an awesome color, since it’s sheer so you can go light, or pile it on for an almost frosty look.

Dragons was fun. I kind of want to do a red-orange-green dragons look too. Maybe next week.

EOTD: Snow Day!
Eyeshadow - Comments (1) - January 15th, 2012

It was supposed to snow today. It did, but it didn’t stick. Since this is the first year in many that I don’t have to worry about getting myself to work in foul weather, I was disappointed that it hasn’t stuck. Oh well! I picked icy blue colors for eyeshadow today to celebrate the Snow Day anyway!

I also tried to use products I haven’t used in a while – I have to remind myself to do this or some products never get any love! I guess you could say I have kind of a lot of cosmetics, lol…

The lighter blue eyeshadow is Bluebell from J. Lynne Cosmetics. It’s an icy blue satin color. The dark blue color is Gangrenous from My Pretty Zombie. This is such an awesome color!! It’s a teal/lavender/green shifty color that’s hard to describe but pretty to look at. I used Nijiro from Fyrinnae to highlight. I pulled out Bare Escentuals’ Buxom Lashliner in Blue Velvet. It’s a cream liner in a cobalt blue with sparkles. It’s really pretty, I need to use it more often! I love the sparkles.

Today’s blush is Revolution Organics’ Freedom Glow Beauty Balm in Blushed. It’s a great cream blush in a portable stick formula. The pink color is flattering on a wide range of complexions and it’s got good staying power. You can use it on your lips too, although I didn’t today. Instead, I’m wearing RockABetty Beauty’s Gloss Wash lip gloss in Flesh Eaters. Flesh Eaters is a color shifting pale nude to soft violet. I really like RockABetty’s gloss formula and have two more shades on the way!

It’s possible we might see some snow tonight. Cross your fingers!
