EOTD: Meow Halloween
Eyeshadow - Comments (3) - October 9th, 2012

I was feeling dramatic today, so I decided to use some of Meow Cosmetics’ Halloween colors. Also, because they’re available RIGHT NOW! (So go order some if you dig any of these shades…) Meow’s fall and winter offerings are my favorites that they offer, probably because I just love rich, deep colors and jewel tones. I have to decide which ones to order this year…

I used Coven, from the Halloween Zombies, in the inner half of the lid. Coven is a blue-black with golden teal iridescence. The outer half of the lid is Sinister, also from Halloween Zombies. Sinister is a dark burnished red with gold sparkle and red iridescence. The crease color is Grim Reaper, from the X collection. Grim Reaper is a dark silky charcoal with maroons iridescence and red fire. I also used Grim Reaper on the upper and lower lashlines. On the waterline, I put L’Oreal HiP Kohl Eyeliner in black. In the inner corners and under the browbone, I used Skelecat, another Halloween Zombie color. Skelecat is a white with gold and green iridescence.

Today’s blush is from Detrivore Cosmetics, and it’s NEW!!! It’s Lascivious, and it’s so pretty. Lascivious is a soft shimmery pink shade, very flattering. (The other new blush, Criminal, is also ZOMG amazingly flattering. I *heart* Detrivore blushes!)

The lipstick is MAC Kittenish.

Let’s Talk Halloween
Shopping - Comments (1) - September 7th, 2012

Okey dokey, enough of my favorite companies have put Halloween-y stuff online that I can devote an entire blog post to all the awesome spooky Autumnal goodness! *cue the Tim Burton music*

Detrivore Cosmetics brings you a STUNNING Halloween collection. Every single one of these colors floats my boat! Some are matte, some are satin, and some are sparkly! You can buy the whole set at a discount, or purchase them individually. Detrivore also released some Special FX blushes, if you are wanting something unusual for a costume or just because you rock the alt colors every day! The best way to make your Halloween or other scary costume come to life and look absolutely amazing is to use some spooky contact lenses as these make you look so much scarier.

One Hand Washes The Other has there Halloween collection up – check out my review of most of the scents here!

Darling Clandestine has released a limited edition Halloween collection of four scents. Wither and Falter interest me the most.
Black Rose Minerals will have a Halloween collection (two of them, actually) although they aren’t online yet. Rosa has put some sneak peek photos on the BRM Facebook page and they look fabulous.

Meow Cosmetics hasn’t put their Halloween shop up yet either, but I really, really, really like everything they do for Halloween (And then Christmas! Fall/Winter is my favorite time at Meow).

Other companies have stuff planned, but nothing live yet. I’ll update when I know more!

EOTD: Tiger Lily Valley
Cat, Complexion, Eyeshadow - Comments Off - June 17th, 2012

Rosa, the sweetheart who owns Black Rose Minerals heard Tiger Lily (Theo’s fur-sister) was jealous that Theo had his own eyeshadow color. After all, she’s the princess in the household. So Rosa made Tiger Lily, this absolutely beautiful color. It’s sweet but fierce, just like my kitteh.

Tiger Lily is a neutral peachy tan with just a touch of pinky red sparkles. I used it over Pixie Epoxy to really make the sparkles stick. I wore it with Death Valley, another new color I bought recently. Death Valley is a deep metallic bronze with just a touch of pink glitter. I love the pink glitter in this color! I used Lobotomy from Detrivore to highlight. The eyeliner is from VS Makeup, in Dark Chocolate.

Black Rose Minerals is offering blush now, so of course I had to try it! I picked out Radical, a sweet coral pink with a touch of golden shine. It’s so pretty! The lip color is Budding Beauty Lipgelee from MAC.

Of course, I had to include a picture of the girl herself – this is Tiger Lily, aka Tigsy!

Detrivore Cosmetics’ Blush
Best Of, Complexion - Comments (3) - January 15th, 2012

My friend Luna at Toxid-Lotus has very helpfully photographed and swatched all of the Detrivore Cosmetics Blushes!! You must go see!

Part One has Poison and Bloodbath, which I own. Poison is a definite favorite color. After seeing these pictures, I’ve decided I NEED Indecent too.

Part Two
has Thing, which is another favorite of mine. I really want Spoiled and Concubine now.

Part Three has Gallows, Clotted, and Apocalyptic (I have the eyeshadow, it’s the same formula), which I own.

Go check it out!

EOTD: Restless Kraken
Eyeshadow - Comments (1) - January 12th, 2012

I’ve been wearing too much brown lately, so today I decided I needed to try out some new blues. I ordered Kraken from Detrivore Cosmetics, and got Restless as a free sample. They are both really excellent blue shades!

I have to admit, I ordered Kraken for the name as much as for the color. Who can resist something named after a giant mythical octopus?? Kraken the color is a deep blue-teal shade. It’s quite pretty, I can see myself wearing it a lot. Restless is a light blue eye shadow, and it has a really pretty satin-y finish. I don’t think I actually have a blue similar to this, so I’m really digging the shade. It’s a nice icy blue. I used Divinity from Persephone Minerals to highlight, since the greenish tint goes perfectly with Kraken.

The blush is Cargo’s BeachBlush in Sunset Beach. It’s a nice, soft pink color with just a touch of bronze to warm things up. I’m wearing Brazen Cosmetics’ Epiphany gloss, the pretty clear gloss with purple sparks.

EOTD: Fresh Winter Picnic
Eyeshadow - Comments (4) - October 22nd, 2011

I cleaned up and reorganized all my makeup and realized I haven’t used any of my palettes for months. I decided to bust out Fresh’s Winter Picnic palette today for a change of pace. Fresh isn’t selling it anymore, but you can still find it around the net. The Winter Picnic palette consists of six colors: a pale lilac-y color, a white pearl, medium khaki taupe, deep chocolate, muted sky blue with greenish undertones, and a dusty pink with shimmer. I love Fresh’s eyeshadows, although they do tend to go on a bit sheer – but you can build the color, and they’re quite blendable. For best results, use over an eyeshadow primer.

The colors in the palette are more matte than shimmery, which creates a very rich deep effect. Today I used Mist on Everest (the muted sky blue) on the lid, with Hyacinth (the lavender-lilac) in the inner corners. Dry Earth (the chocolate color) went in the crease, and I used Moonlit Path (the white pearl) as a highlight. Moonlit Path is probably the sparkliest color of all six. I used a grey pencil liner to keep things a little softer than black or brown.

My cheeks are Cargo’s BeachBlush in Sunset Beach. On my lips I’m wearing Paul & Joe lipstick 064 RPM.

Detrivore Cosmetics Blush Review
Best Of, Complexion - Comments Off - September 20th, 2011

I wanted to write an official review of Detrivore Cosmetics’ blush so I can talk more about why I love them!

Detrivore Cosmetics currently offers twelve shades of blush, ranging from a pretty light pink, to dark dark red colors. I own Clotted, Bloodbath, Poison, and Thing. I want Gallows and Indecent. Jars are a generous ten gram sifter jar for $5. You cannot beat that price for how much you get!! Samples are only $1 and are a good way to go if you’re unsure of a color.

The colors are all very, very pigmented. The lighter colors like Poison and Thing are going to be easier to work with if you are new to loose mineral blush. The darker colors will require a very light hand if you want a natural look. My suggestion is to do some test runs on your hands or inside your arms to get a feel for how much you need. Worn very lightly, even a dark rich color like Bloodbath will look like a natural flush of color on your cheeks, and you can brush on more if you are going for more drama. There are more matte colors than really shimmery ones, but I’m finding I prefer that. I can always add shimmer on top!

Overall, Detrivore Cosmetics’ blushes have become my favorite go-to cheek colors. I can’t recommend them enough!

EOTD: Cookie Pants & Skink
Eyeshadow - Comments Off - September 20th, 2011

Cookie Pants is a new color from My Pretty Zombie, named after a cute cat. I can’t resist anything with a good story and a cute name (also, it’s brown, I love brown) so … yeah. Cookie Pants. I wore it with Skink from Black Rose Minerals to make a nice neutral eye but with a little drama. I picked my lip and cheek color to really warm things up, since I’m starting to get into a real autumn-y mood.

Cookie Pants is warm brown with a gold to rose/wine shift. It is fabulous. Skink is a soft champagne color. The highlight color is Detrivore’s Lobotomy, my go-to pale gold color.

Speaking of Detrivore, I’m wearing Bloodbath on my cheeks. I love this lady’s blushes… My lips are Morgana Cryptoria’s Lip Balm in Clandestiny.
