EOTD: Dour Coma
Eyeshadow - Comments (1) - July 3rd, 2012
Despite it being summer, it was mostly overcast today and I felt gloomy. So, I decided some dark, dark eye makeup was just the thing to match my mood. I rustled through my stash and came up with some appropriately darkened purples that were perfect. Black Rose Minerals (who is having a 4th of July sale btw) has a great almost-black violet that was perfect, along with a dark plum from Meow Cosmetics.
The lid color is Dour, from Meow Cosmetics. Dour is from the Shattered Equinox collection, and is a midnight plum with golden sheen. This color is seriously beautiful! I used Coma Black from Black Rose Minerals in the crease. Coma Black, from the Luciferi collection, is a darkly deep violet. I used Pixie Epoxy underneath to make sure that all the sparkles and shimmers from both these colors really stuck on. The picture isn’t doing Coma Black proper justice, it’s definitely got a strong purple sheen. The highlight is Ice Princess, from Pumpkin & Poppy. I used L’Oreal HiP Kohl Eyeliner in black on the waterline, and essence’s I Love Rock Gloss Eye Pencil on the upper lashline. I really love this glossy black pencil, btw. I patted more Coma Black on top of the glossy pencil, as well as using it on the lower lashline.
The blush is Mesmerize, from Fyrinnae. Mesmerize is a medium berry shade with no brown tones. The lipstick is Aristo-cat from MAC.

Hey guess what? Guess what? I’m so excited! Detrivore Cosmetics brought back, for a limited time, one of my favorite Detrivore colors! It’s Ectoplasma, this stupendous bright green that I lurve. To celebrate, and encourage you to GO GET IT NOW BEFORE IT’S GONE, I used it today.
Ectoplasma is a bright green with some shimmer to it. I love it because it’s so bright but it doesn’t looke like puke on my skin (I tend to be sallow). Because I haven’t done green and purple in forever, I used Pixie from Madd Style in the crease. Pixie is a purple color with gold sparkles. I used Pixie Epoxy for extra sparkle-stick. The highlight is Ice Princess from Pumpkin & Poppy.
The blush is Mesmerize from Fyrinnae. Mesmerize is a medium berry color, very pretty. The lip gloss is Epiphany from Brazen Cosmetics.
Perfume of the day: Victoria’s Secret Gilded Ginger Crème body spray.

Today’s eyeshadow comes from Luna’s weekly makeup challenge, and is Dolphin-themed. I personally think dolphins are pretty cool, what with being mammals and all and they’re smart. So, I’m happy to present Dolphin face!
I started by putting Crystalline from Detrivore Cosmetics in the inner corners. Crystalline is a light blue blend of mica and blue, silver, and violet shimmer. It’s so pretty, I only have a sample and I think I’m going to need to get a full-size. The outer corners are Restless, also from Detrivore. Restless is a light blue color. The crease is Gangrenous from My Pretty Zombie. Gangrenous is a dark lavender that shifts to a glossy green. It’s basically AWESOME! I love this color so much. The highlight is Nijiro from Fyrinnae. The eyeliner on the upper lashline is Milani Inifite Liquid Eyeliner in Infinite.
The blush is a discontinued color from L’Occitane. I’m wearing Bubblegum lipstick from MAC.
I’m pretty sure the upcoming week’s makeup challenge is glitter, so that’ll be fun!

It’s been kind of a rough week in Claire-land, so I didn’t really do much makeup. But I was bound and determined to do this week’s Makeup Challenge from Toxid-Lotus, because it was Dragons. And Dragons rock. I decided that my dragons were going to be greenish and bluish and sparkly. So that’s what I did.
I used Electric Stardust from Fyrinnae in the inner corners. Electric Stardust is bright, cheery, shimmery mint green that can change to a lighter aqua depending on the light. The outer corners are Poseidon from Black Rose Minerals. Poseidon is a teal base with a high shimmer finish and turquoise glitter. It’s one of my favorite teal colors. The crease color is Cyranose from Linnaeus Cosmetics. Cyranose is a dark green with a lot of green sparkle. The highlight is Divinity from Persephone Minerals (which is on clearance right now, go buy it!!!). Divinity is a pale, glowing green highlight glistening with sparkles of green, silver, & green-gold. In order to make all this stick, I used Pixie Epoxy as well.
On my cheeks, I applied Morgana Cryptoria’s Mysterious Veil, for a green sheen. A light dusting of Bare Escentuals’ blush in Secret went on top.
The lip color is Ultra Phantom Lip Lustre from Fyrinnae. Ultra Phantom is a sheer aqua sparkle that turns to pink in different light or angles. It’s an awesome color, since it’s sheer so you can go light, or pile it on for an almost frosty look.
Dragons was fun. I kind of want to do a red-orange-green dragons look too. Maybe next week.
EOTD: Snow Day!
Eyeshadow - Comments (1) - January 15th, 2012
It was supposed to snow today. It did, but it didn’t stick. Since this is the first year in many that I don’t have to worry about getting myself to work in foul weather, I was disappointed that it hasn’t stuck. Oh well! I picked icy blue colors for eyeshadow today to celebrate the Snow Day anyway!
I also tried to use products I haven’t used in a while – I have to remind myself to do this or some products never get any love! I guess you could say I have kind of a lot of cosmetics, lol…
The lighter blue eyeshadow is Bluebell from J. Lynne Cosmetics. It’s an icy blue satin color. The dark blue color is Gangrenous from My Pretty Zombie. This is such an awesome color!! It’s a teal/lavender/green shifty color that’s hard to describe but pretty to look at. I used Nijiro from Fyrinnae to highlight. I pulled out Bare Escentuals’ Buxom Lashliner in Blue Velvet. It’s a cream liner in a cobalt blue with sparkles. It’s really pretty, I need to use it more often! I love the sparkles.
Today’s blush is Revolution Organics’ Freedom Glow Beauty Balm in Blushed. It’s a great cream blush in a portable stick formula. The pink color is flattering on a wide range of complexions and it’s got good staying power. You can use it on your lips too, although I didn’t today. Instead, I’m wearing RockABetty Beauty’s Gloss Wash lip gloss in Flesh Eaters. Flesh Eaters is a color shifting pale nude to soft violet. I really like RockABetty’s gloss formula and have two more shades on the way!
It’s possible we might see some snow tonight. Cross your fingers!
My Top Ten Favorite Indie Beauty Companies
Best Of, Makeup Fun, Shopping - Be the first to comment! - December 3rd, 2011
A while back, Luna from Toxid Lotus tagged me to list my top ten favorite indie beauty companies. I’ve been very lazy about doing it, so today, I bring you MY top ten favorite indie beauty companies. These are in no particular order…
1. Linnaeus Cosmetics. The lovely Miss Marin is wonderful and awesome and her eyeshadows are just the bees knees. These are colors I reach for again and again. Her customer service is amazing and I can’t wait for her to open again in 2012.
2. Black Rose Minerals. So many of Rosa’s colors are also staples for me, like Skink and Minky. She also made Theo for me, my dream taupe-y color with a green duochrome. She has a great selection of colors!
3. One Hand Washes The Other makes Black Magic Soap, which will save your face from evil. Becca also makes some of my now favorite scents to wear, like Pasticceria and Victuals. You NEED to check out her solid scents if you haven’t already!
4. My Pretty Zombie makes some of the most creative colors I have – like Thunderpants, Unicorn Pee, and the whole Animal Husbandry set. I love her duochromes, and the owner is a sweetheart. She has awesome customer service.
5. Detrivore Cosmetics makes the Best Blush Ever. No, really. Poison, Thing, and Clotted are colors I reach for ALL THE TIME. In fact, I’ve had to make myself reach for others just so I use them up. As if that wasn’t enough, Distorria also makes beautiful eyeshadows (Lobotomy, Cremains…) and now she has good smelling things too!
6. Meow Cosmetics has been a favorite mine for a long, long time. I have so many eyeshadow colors from them, and they are all beautiful. They also make excellent blushes and I really love the crystalline glow powders. They have sales and free shipping quite often, so it’s worth it to get on their mailing list so you get the notices!
7. Silk Naturals is a new favorite. Everything I’ve tried has been excellent, from blushes to eyeshadows to my favorite, the Kisser Slicker Lipgloss Sticks.
8. Fyrinnae. Yes, I know, half the time you want to shop they’re not there and that’s frustrating. BUT! Pixie Epoxy is a holy grail item for me, and I love their Lip Lustres and eyeshadow, so they’re on my top ten list.
9. Brazen Cosmetics makes some of my favorites lip glosses EVER! I also really like their eyeshadow, and I want to try some of the face powders too, like the night time formula.
10. Hmm. I don’t have a tenth right now.
EOTD: Go Go Linnaeus!
Eyeshadow, Shopping - Be the first to comment! - November 26th, 2011
Linnaeus Cosmetics has reopened for the weekend to have a sale! Marin has been very busy with school, but this weekend (and this weekend only!) you can get full size Linnaeus Cosmetics’ 5 gram shadows for $4! I had to use some LC eyeshadows today to celebrate. I’m wearing Go Go Flamingo and Truculent today.
Go Go Flamingo is a shimmery light pink. It’s one of my favorite baby pinks around, and has a lovely blendable texture. Truculent is a dark lavender with pink glitter. It’s super pretty! I used Crimson Ghost from Fyrinnae to highlight.
I’m wearing Bokeh Face Lotus blush mixed with Present from Meow Cosmetics. The lipstick is Style Curve from MAC.
I published this and then almost forgot! I wanted to start adding Perfume of the Day to these posts because I don’t talk about perfume as much as I’d like. So… today’s perfume is Pasticceria from One Hand Washes The Other. Pasticceria has notes of marzipan, hazelnut, almonds, vanilla, cakes, assorted pastries, frosting, and pure sugar.
EOTD: Black & Silver

I wanted to wear dark eye makeup today, and I knew I wanted to use Cremains, from Detrivore Cosmetics. I grabbed Famine, a Halloween 2011 color from Meow Cosmetics to go with it.
Oh Cremains. I love Cremains. It’s not black, but almost, and has the best silvery sparks to it. It’s so smooth and not chalky, unlike so many black-ish colors. It’s a must have! Famine is the palest gray with a luminous highlight, to quote Meow. It’s pretty. I’m wearing two L’Oreal eyeliners, Black Shock pencil and the Black Kohl liner. The highlight is Vanilla Bean from Candy’s Sweet Treats.
I’m wearing Fyrinnae blush in Mesmerize, and a MAC lipstick in Kittenish. I love Kittenish, it’s a nice brown/wine color.
