EOTD: Sinister Poseidon
Eyeshadow - Comments (4) - October 12th, 2012

Are we tired of Halloween collection colors yet? I’m not! Today I used another new Black Rose Minerals color, this time from the Not Another Zombie Collection. I really love the top labels to the full size jars in this collection.

Sinister Urge, the Zombie color, is a light blue with a red sheen. This is a great color! I love pale blues, especially pale blues with cool stuff going on. I used it with more blue, but it would look great with pink or purple too. The crease color is Poseidon, a teal with turquoise glitter. Poseidon is one of my favorite blue colors! I used Poseidon with a damp brush to line the upper and lower lashlines as well. The highlight color is a discontinued L’Occitane color called Mousseline d’Argent, a white color with silver sparkles.

The blush is Lascivious, from Detrivore Cosmetics. The liploss is Nars Turkish Delight.

EOTD: Flash Accident
Eyeshadow - Comments (2) - October 10th, 2012

Since it’s available for purchase now, I wanted to to show off another cool Meow Cosmetics color from the Friday the 13th collection: Accident. I used it with one of my favorite Silk Naturals colors and a new blush from Detrivore Cosmetics.

Accident is a metallic copper shade with a dark undertone and gleaming metallic iridescent fire. It’s really, really pretty. If I can scrape up the dough, I want to get this in a full size before the end of the month. BTW, if any of the Friday the 13th colors appeal, get ‘em before the end of October because you’ll have to wait until September 2013 before it’ll be back again. Flash, from Silk Naturals, is one of those great neutral colors with lots of shimmer. It’s a complex gold color with a hint of silver and diamond pearl. It pairs nicely with a variety of colors, so it’s a good neutral to have in your collection. I use Peepshow from My Pretty Zombie in the inner corners and under the browbone. The eyeliner is from L’Oreal, a discontinued burgundy color.

Detrivore’s
two new blush shades are awesomely awesome. I’ll admit, they look pretty “meh” in the jar. But put them on, and they are just wonderfully flattering and subtle. They are perfect for anyone who wants easy-to-wear, subtle colors that enhance your complexion. Criminal, what I’m wearing here, is just a subtle flush of color. It is a great everyday goes with everything kind of blush.

The lip color is Nars lipgloss in Rose Birman.

EOTD: Absent Joy
Eyeshadow, Hot Lips - Comments (1) - October 8th, 2012

Today I used another new Detrivore Cosmetics color from the Halloween Collection. It’s Absent, and it’s really stunning. I love wearing bright orange or bright red eyeshadow, so naturally I just had to have Absent. I used it with Joy, one of my favorite Meow Cosmetics colors.

So, Absent… it’s a bright orangish red satin eye shadow with gold shimmer, and it is just so pretty. I used it in the crease. Joy, a pale orange-y color with a pink shift, is from Meow’s Holiday Wishes collection. It’s on the lid. I used Shiro Cosmetics’ Badger on the upper and lower lashline. I put Bare Escentuals’ Firelight, a creamy buttercup shimmer, in the inner corners and under the brow bone.

The blush is Nars Luster. Luster is a sheer golden apricot color. The lipgloss is L’Oreal Infallible Lip Gloss is Suede. This is the new 8-hour formula, which in my opinion isn’t any longer-lasting than the old 6-hour formula. However, it’s still much, much more long-lasting than an ordinary lip gloss. It’s a great color, sort of a rose gold shade.

EOTD: Misery & Apocalyptic
Eyeshadow - Be the first to comment! - June 20th, 2012

I went downtown today to have lunch with Husband-san and his mom and sister, so I decided to do something kind of summery and fun. Today’s makeup features two of my favorite colors from Detrivore Cosmetics, Misery and Apocalyptic, as well as Aurum, Lobotomy, and Poison blush.

First, I applied Aurum, a light gold satin eye shadow, in the inner corners of the eyes about halfway to the middle of the lid. Next, I put Apocalyptic, a light pink eyeshadow filled with red and pink shimmer, in the outer corners of the eyes, and blended it together at the halfway point with Aurum. I used Misery, a coral colored shadow, in the crease, blending it with the other two colors. Lobotomy, my favorite highlight color EVER, is under the brow bone, and in the very inner corners of the eyes. Lobotomy is a sheer gold highlight. I used a taupe pencil on the upper and lower lashline.

The blush is Poison. Poison is a matte bright pink color, and quite possibly my favorite pink blush ever. It really is a lovely true pink, and very wearable.

The lipgloss is Nars Rose Birman. I really want Detrivore’s Lament, I think it would have been great with the other colors. But Rose Birman is one of my favorite darker colors and I think it looks okay.

EOTD: Meow Browns
Eyeshadow - Comments (3) - March 23rd, 2012

I haven’t used any of my Meow Cosmetics colors in a while, so yesterday I pulled out some browns to use. Meow was pretty much the first mineral makeup company I started buying a lot of products from, so I pretty much have them to thank for my incredible loose eyeshadow habit. LOL.

The lid color is Morning Latte. Morning Latte is a buff, netural, earthen, muted espresso swirled with cream. The crease color is Burnt Turkey, one of my FAVORITE dark brown colors ever. Burnt Turkey is a metallic charcoal with umber and gold iridescent undertone. The highlight is Bubble Bath, a bright french vanilla kissed with multi-colored blue and green iridescence. The eyeliner is Tarte Indelible Wink.

I picked Nars Blush in Oasis, because I love the sparkling pink champagne color. The lip gloss is L’Oreal Infallible Plumping Gloss in Plumped Brown. I reviewed the Infallible glosses once already, but I feel the need to re-visit them briefly. I keep coming back to these glosses because they are just amazing. I love the texture, the fact that they wear for hours, and yet still feel and look glossy. It’s some kind of witchcraft, I’m telling you.

Poll Question: Stay with the blonde or go back to brown?

EOTD: Softwash Mauvement
Eyeshadow - Be the first to comment! - December 4th, 2011

I felt like playing with corporate cosmetics today, just because I haven’t in a while. I used MAC pigments in Softwash Grey and Mauvement, both from a holiday collection. I haven’t been tempted by this year’s sets, though I like the plum one. But I already have Grape, so there really isn’t any point.

Softwash Grey is a a cool-toned, blue-purple gray with a slight metallic sheen. I really like how metallic these pigments are. Mauvement is a bronzy taupe with a mauve undertone and champagne sheen. I used Sephora’s Aspen Summit to highlight. As much as I love my indie eyeshadows, I have to give props to MAC for making an excellent textured product in their pigments. They go on like butter.

The blush is Nars Luster, and lips are MAC Budding Beauty Lipgelee.

EOTD: Baklavah Woodlands
Eyeshadow - Be the first to comment! - November 20th, 2011

I’m expecting Meow Cosmetics to put up their Holiday shop any day now, so I decided to use some colors from years past. Woodlands is from the Glacial Grove collection and Peace On Earth was new last year. I can’t wait to see what they do this year! I love Meow’s holiday collections, I think they are my favorite out of all they offer.

Woodlands is a deep cocoa with rose iridescent undertones and pink and silver shimmering sparkle. It’s brown++, basically. It’s a very pretty color that blends nicely with other colors. I put Peace On Earth, a creamy warm french vanilla with a soft rosy glow, in the inner corners. Baklavah from Persephone Minerals is in the outer corners. Baklavah is a soft gold color with gold sparks. It’s so pretty! It is much sparklier than the first two, but it blends well.

I have Nars blush in Oasis on my cheeks. This is one of my favorite non-indie blushes. I’d love to see an indie version though! I’m wearing L’Oreal Infallible Plumping Gloss in Plumped Brown.

Whose holiday collection are you most excited for?

EOTD: Gangrenous Death!
Eyeshadow, Hot Lips - Comments (2) - October 28th, 2011

Okay, now I’m just having too much fun putting colors together so I can get the most morbid names for my EOTDs. Hee hee. Today’s fabulous name is courtesy of My Pretty Zombie’s Gangrenous and Meow Cosmetics’ Death, with some Plasma from Geek Chic Cosmetics added for fun.

Gangrenous is a dark lavender with a glossy green shift. YOU NEED THIS COLOR IF YOU LIKE PURPLE AND GREEN. No, really, you do. Death, from the Four Horseman Collection, is a dark gray with red iridescence. I only have a sample, and probably won’t get a full-size just because I don’t wear dark colors that often. But if you like to do the smoky eye thing a lot, it’s a great color for it. I dabbed Plasma on my upper and lower lashlines for extra sparkly fun!

I have Nars blush in Oasis on my cheeks. The blue lips are from Evil Shades – it’s Cyanide Deviant Lipstick with Wicked Gloss in Banshee on top.

What do we think about blue lipstick? I think it’s fun but probably not something I’d wear all the time.
