EOTD: Crocodilia Cetacea
Eyeshadow - Be the first to comment! - May 13th, 2013

It seems like whenever I go for the dramatic lately, I reach for Detrivore Cosmetics’ Cetacea. It’s such a great blue color. It seemed like the done thing to pair it with a greenish color this time, so I grabbed Crocodilia, also from Detrivore. It must be the blue hair, it makes me want to wear blue eyeshadow.

I used Crocodilia on the lid. Crocodilia is a dark teal satin eye shadow with heavy sparkle. I put Cetacea in the crease. Cetacea is a dense purplish blue satin eye shadow. It has blue, purple, red, and pink shimmer. I used Shiro Cosmetics’ Finkelstein to highlight. Finkelstein is a sheer creamy white with turquoise sparkle, and an intense aqua sheen. (It was from the Halloween collection.) I used Physician’s Formula kohl eyeliner on the upper lashline and the lower waterline.

I didn’t use blush for this, but rather Physician’s Formula Healthy Wear Bronzer. I’ve been hooked on this bronzer lately. It must be all the sunny weather we’ve been having. It’s an SPF 50 product, but personally I don’t think you’re going to put enough on your face to matter, from a sun protection point of view. But it’s a great every day bronzer.

I forgot to put lip stuff on before I took the picture. Doh.

EOTD: Dark Blue
Eyeshadow - Comments (1) - April 3rd, 2013

Hello Lovelies! Things have been very busy this month with school and real life, so my blog has been sadly neglected. I have a few EOTD posts to catch up on, so here’s the first! I was wanting to wear something more dramatic, so I used a darker blue color, and paired it with one of my favorite Shiro colors.

The lid color is Oceanic Expeditions from Eccentric Cosmetics. It’s a navy blue filled with gold, and purple sparks. The crease color is Shiro Cosmetics’ Fullmetal. Fullmetal is a complex charcoal base with a strong golden shimmer and red highlights. I used Shiro’s Tears of Retail Employees to highlight. The eyeliner is Physician’s Formula Shimmer Strips Kohl Kajal Eyeliner in the blue color. I really love these kohl liners!

The blush is Detrivore Cosmetics’ Poison. I forgot to wear a lip color for the picture. I wore MAC Sintillation Lip Gelee.

EOTD: First Day
Eyeshadow - Comments (2) - January 30th, 2013

Today was the first day of school. I decided to wear Black Rose Mineral’s Tiger Lily, because it’s such a great color. It came out a little messier than I’d like, but it mostly looks okay I think.

Tiger Lily is a neutral peachy tan with just a touch of pinky red spakles. Using a sticky base will make it appear more sparkly. The crease color is Premature Burial, an earthy brown glistens with pink and gold sparkles. The highlight color is from Shiro Cosmetics, a limited edition sparkly white color.

I’ve been using this eyeliner from Physician’s Formula, the Shimmer Strips Kohl Kajal Eyeliner Trio, Blue Eyes set. I know I don’t have blue eyes, but I really wanted the navy blue color, along with the brown color and black color. I used the brown color here. I need to do a review of these on their own, but needless to say, I’m really kind of digging the texture and formula.

The blush is Gallows, from Detrivore Cosmetics. I forgot to put on a lip color before I took the picture! Doh!! I wore L’Oreal’s Infallible Gloss in Coral Sands.

5 Things: Drugstore Stuff I Want To Try
5 Things, Cheap Thrills, Makeup Fun, Shopping - Be the first to comment! - December 28th, 2012

Since I’m on a budget, I’ve been more and more interested in checking out drugstore makeup brands. Most of these brands are owned by or are the parent company of department store brands, so a lot of the “fancy” formulas find their way into mass market products. Here are five new mass market products that I want to check out, in no particular order.

1. Physician’s Formula Super BB All-in-1 Beauty Balm Powder. I KNOW, I KNOW, the Western co-opting of the whole BB phenomenom is annoying at best, and offensive at worst. Let’s just set that aside for now, and ignore the purported “BB” aspect of this product, and focus on the fact that it looks like a pretty awesome face powder. It seems like a pretty nice formula for a face powder (just looking at the ingredient list) and I really want to try it out.

2. L’Oreal Shine Caresse Lipstains. L’Oreal doesn’t seem to have these on their website yet, despite the fact that I’ve seen them on displays at Fred Meyer. Annoying. Anyway, they are purported to be a mass market dupe for YSL Glossy Stains (L’Oreal owns YSL.) L’Oreal makes my current favorite longwearing lipgloss (Infallible Gloss), so I really want to try these glossy lipstains.

3. Cover Girl Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balm. These just look cool. It seems like everyone is hopping on the “gloss balm stick thing” bandwagon, but I like the way these look the best.

4. Flower Cosmetics. I got January’s Allure magazine and Drew Barrymore’s makeup line Flower was featured. It’s going to be a Wal-Mart exclusive, and I am DYING to check it out.

5. The Total Intensity eye products from Prestige. I need to visit an Ulta soon and check these out!

EOTD: Stage Door
Eyeshadow - Comments (2) - September 12th, 2012

Whenever I travel, I usually bring the Fresh Stage Door palette with me. The colors are versatile, and the palette has a large mirror. Double duty! These aren’t the best pictures, but the makeup came out rather nice for travel makeup, so I decided to blog it anyway.

The Stage Door Palette isn’t being made anymore, but there are some pretty pictures of it here.

I used Stage Door, a nude shimmering mauve on the lid, and Evening Cloak, a blue grey with gold shimmer, in the crease. The highlight is Night Orchid, a shimmering champagne ivory. I used a Physician’s Formula Organic Wear pencil to line (it looks like they’ve discontinued the color, it was navy).

On my cheeks I have a Body Shop RoseFlower blush. The lip color is Tokidoki Gelato Lip Balm Stain in Carina.

EOTD: Monster Gangrene
Cheap Thrills, Eyeshadow - Be the first to comment! - April 17th, 2012

I got some new colors from Detrivore Cosmetics recently! I was feeling in a green mood, so I used some green eyeshadows and a new pink blush. I also got a new lip gloss from essence to try.

The lid color is Gangrene from Detrivore Cosmetics. Gangrene is a soft pastel green/teal eye shadow. It’s so pretty! It has a satin-y texture and really nice color payoff. The darker green color is Tank Girl, from Madd Style Cosmetics. Tank Girl is an army green color with a lot of sparkle and glitter. I didn’t use a sticky base, so it’s not super-sparkly in the pictures. The highlight is Lobotomy, also from Detrivore. The eyeliner is Physicians Formula Organic Wear Eyeliner in Black Olive.

The blush is Indecent, a new addition to my Detrivore blush collection. I LOVE THIS COLOR. It’s a deep vivid pink matte blush.

The lip gloss is from essence cosmetics, a drugstore brand that is rapidly becoming one of my favorites. It’s European, the quality is great, and the prices are so cheap! It’s Stay With Me Long-Lasting Lip Gloss in the color My Favorite Milkshake. It’s a milky pale pink. Despite the name, this is not really a “long-wear” product like L’Oreal’s Infallible line. But that’s okay. For under three bucks, I don’t care.

I’m thinking of dyeing my hair back to brown. I’m getting tired of blonde.

EOTD: Zombie Seedless Cupcake
Cat, Eyeshadow - Comments (2) - January 21st, 2012

I’m in a funny mood today. The weather can’t decide what it wants to do and I’m just vacillating between feeling okay and horribly depressed. Getting myself prettied up can help lift some of the grey fog, so I pushed myself to do my makeup today. I’m happy with how it came out and do feel somewhat better. I started with Seedless from Madd Style Cosmetix, and then decided to work Cupcake Zombie and PB & Chocolate Cupcake from Candy’s Sweet Treats into the mix somehow.

Seedless is a baby pink with green sparkles and duochrome. It’s one of my favorite colors because I love the green duochrome. I put Seedless in the inner corners. The outer corners are PB & Chocolate Cupcake, a tan color with golden glitter. The crease is Cupcake Zombie, a dark green with lime and red glitter. I used Vanilla Bean Cupcake on the browbone to highlight. The eyeliner is Physicians Formula Organic Wear Eyeliner in Black Olive.

Today’s blush is Gallows from Detrivore Cosmetics. Gallows is a deep pinkish red shade with a satin texture and shimmer. It’s really pretty!! I didn’t feeling like wearing much lip color today, so I’m just wearing Mocha Rose lip balm.

And just because it’s Caturday, bonus Theo photo!

St. Patrick’s Day Look with Vicious Cosmetics
Etsy, Eyeshadow, Makeup Fun - Comments (1) - March 17th, 2011

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, I did this fun look with the green color Gysahl from Vicious Cosmetics.

In case you don’t know, gysahl greens are what you feed your chocobos in Final Fantasy video games. I have many fun memories of buying and feeding my chocobos gysahl greens while trying to breed new chocobos, so I knew I had to have the color. It’s a great bright green, and I got tons of compliments on this green look.

I used Mint from Bare Escentuals on the lid (it came in a limited edition set), but any pale mint green would do. Then I used Gysahl in the crease, and my favorite green eyeliner from Physician’s Formula, and more Gysahl on the lower lashline. Fun!

What did you do for St. Patrick’s Day?
